Caring for yourself
Aftercare instructions below:
-
Healing time varies from client to client. Allow 4-6 weeks from initial appointment before scheduling a touch up (if necessary)
AFTER 72 HOURS: You can remove your wrap and begin to gently cleanse the area 2-3 times daily until fully healed. Once the tattoo has scabbed and peeled away, it will have settled into the skin and faded ever so slightly.
With clean hands, take an antibacterial soap and work up a lather. Wash the area using circular motions. We recommend: Dial, Dove unscented, or our foaming cleanser~ Rinse with lukewarm water.
Dab the area dry with a disposable paper towel. Traditional towels trap moisture and can sometimes harvest bacteria. It is best to avoid them while your tattoo is fairly fresh.
Apply a thin layer of the ointment provided to you. Just enough to moisturize the area. Avoid applying an excessive amount as this may suffocate the skin and delay the healing process. If you run out of A&D we suggest Aquaphor or Hustle Butter~
AVOID:
-Exercise or strenuous physical activity for a week
-Long hot showers as well as submerging your tattoo in water (pools, jacuzzies, tubs, etc.)
-Abrasive scrubs and heavily scented lotions
-Direct UV exposure, sunbathing and booth tanning. Wear SPF when possible
-Picking, rubbing and scratching the area
-
Expected Healing Times:
Nose: 3-4 months
Ears: 4-6 months
Lips: 3-4 months
Navel: 6-12 months
Brow: 2-3 months
Nipples: 9-12 months
STARTING NIGHT OF APPOINTMENT: With freshly washed hands, clean twice daily using the provided saline spray.
During the healing process, you may experience some build-up or crust around the piercing. When this happens:
Avoid picking and twisting the jewelry
Dilute the saline with warm water in a small container/cup
Using a Q-tip or cotton pad apply the mixture to the area, this will soften the build-up.
IMPORTANT:
Avoid Harsh soaps, abrasive scrubs and anything heavily fragranced.
Be mindful of daily activities that could lead to snagging. Examples: Washing your face/body, sleeping position, how you use a towel, dressing/changing etc.
LIPS: Avoid wearing lip products including balms as this could trap bacteria and could cause infection. No sharing of anything that may come in contact with your piercing such as straws, cups, utensils, etc. For two weeks: Avoid eating spicy/acidic foods as they can cause irritation to your fresh piercing. No shellfish/raw fish of any kind. It is strongly advised that consuming alcohol and smoking be avoided during the healing period.
